Russia and Alaska are separated by a distance of approximately 6,200 miles (9,978 kilometers). Alaska is a state of the United States and is located in the northwest corner of North America. Russia is the largest country in the world by land area and is located in northern Eurasia. The Bering Strait, which separates Russia and Alaska, is only about 55 miles (88 kilometers) wide at its narrowest point. However, the actual distance between the two places is much greater because Alaska and Russia are located on opposite sides of the continent.
